I (#R9740) aircraft, with an aircrew of four, took off from RCAF Prince Albert for night-time navigational training flight. R9740 crashed six miles south-west of Kinistino in Saskatchewan, taking the lives of the entire crew.
The casualties of this unfortunate accident were-

RCAF Leading Aircraftman Cyril Samuel LAPP,
RCAF Flying Officer Olav Alfred NESS and
American Civilian Pilot G. K. HYER.

Leading Aircraftman Harvey William Hurst is commemorated on Page 83 of Canada's Second World War Book of Remembrance.
